Workshop/Walking Tour with EPFC North + Community Historian Rob Howatson, beginning and ending at South Memorial Park, Vancouver

FRASER STREET: SOUTH VAN’S ORIGINAL HEART LINE

Saturday, June 1: 10 AM - Noon

Downtown folk often dismissed South Van’s early settlers as gully jumpers and stump hoppers, but the rural area was home to Vancouver’s first straight road and today that arterial serves one of the city’s most culturally diverse neighbourhoods. Join a seasoned Sunsetter for a stroll into the heart of Fraser Street where the echo of trams, scams and political bedlam can still be heard. Circle tour starts at the cenotaph in South Memorial Park.

This special walking tour is part of EPFC North’s community cinema project SoVa A-Z. Walkers will also have the opportunity to film local sites of interest on vintage 16mm Bolex Cameras!

All welcome! No filmmaking experience necessary. Free event! Please rsvp so we know who to expect: epfccollective@gmail.com

The cenotaph in South Memorial Park is located at 5950 Prince Albert Street Vancouver V5W 3E3
