EPFC September Artist-in-Residence Film/Photography Showcase

MOVING & STILL: AN EVENING OF SHARING AND SHOWING BY PATRICIA DELSO LUCAS AND ROBERT RADO

Sunday, September 22: 7 - 9 PM @ Heavy Manners Library

FREE EVENT! Refreshments will be served.

Join us for a beautiful evening of food, libations, conversations, and the magic of motion pictures and photography as Patricia Delso Lucas and Robert Rado share work produced during their stay at Il Nido, the EPFC Collective Artist Residency space in Echo Park.

We begin with a double-16mm projection where simultaneous moving images expand their individual meaning as they dialogue between them, as well as with voice and music. Then, a dive into personal filmmaking in the form of a visual letter to a mother, as a means to make sense of lived experience. Next, see a very personal photography project that also builds on images (albeit still ones) and correspondence from half a century ago exploring identity and dormant emotions.

Patricia Delso Lucas is a Spanish filmmaker and moving image artist based in Belgium. Beginning in 2007 with short personal documentary pieces, Patricia slowly turned to narrative filmmaking, the result of which is a number of short pieces ranging from genre films to more exploratory art-house works. For the past few years, she has been investigating film-poetry, experimental filmmaking and expanded cinema forms as means of expression. https://www.instagram.com/patriciadelsolucas/

Robert Rado is a Brussels, Belgium based photographer. He also likes writing verse. His formal education was in languages, literature and mathematics. Photography is his passion, he is self-taught. Doubt, peculiar sensitivities and more doubt are themes he is after both in his photography and his prose. https://robert-rado.medium.com/
